Tayari Jones Talks with Kim McLarin
Tayari Jones’s highly acclaimed new novel, An American Marriage, has made reading lists from Obama to Oprah. An instant New York Times bestseller, the story follows newlyweds Celestial and Roy as they set out to realize their dreams in the New South. Their lives, however, are suddenly ripped apart when Roy is wrongfully convicted of a crime and is sent to prison. Jones will discuss this love story—called “stirring” by Esquire magazine—on a topic for our times with local luminary and author, Kim McLarin, who regularly appears on the Emmy Award–winning show Basic Black.

The Paige Academy Drummers will usher in this opening session.
