Poetry - Live!
We’ll liven up your afternoon with four captivating female poets. Rising national star Shauna Barbosa reads from her first collection, Cape Verdean Blues. She’s not to be missed—even Kendrick Lamar is a fan. Local favorite Simone John will read from her powerful collection, Testify, which takes on police brutality and gender-based violence. Roxbury native Nina LaNegra will bring her experienced stage presence to the Dudley neighborhood, where she has been a leading cultural icon. Talented young poet Anjie Birkett, from John D. O'Bryant School of Math and Science School, will perform spoken word poetry.
